Chula Vista, California, is located in San Diego County. It is the second largest city in the San Diego metropolitan area, the fourteenth largest city in California, and the 77th largest city in the United States. It lies seven miles from downtown San Diego and seven miles from the Mexican border. Meaning "beautiful view" in Spanish, Chula Vista is part of one of the most culturally diverse areas in the country. It has a population of about 230,000.
Chula Vista covers an area of 52.1 square miles. It is in the South Bay region of the county and is bordered by the Jamul and San Ysidro Mountains, and San Diego Bay on the east and west and Sweetwater River and Otay River on the north and south.
